TRONA selected for Docs Ireland Marketplace 2025

We are proud to share that our documentary project, TRONA directed by Emanuele Mengotti and co-produced by Harald House and Samarcanda Film, has been officially selected to take part in the 2025 Docs Ireland MeetMarket in Belfast.

The Docs Ireland Marketplace is one of the island’s leading co-financing and co-production pitching forums for documentary film. It brings together filmmakers with international funders, broadcasters, distributors, and producers for a series of curated one-on-one meetings — a vital space for independent voices and ambitious documentary storytelling.

What does it mean to grow up in a town that is so hostile that even grass can’t grow?

TRONA, California, once a booming mining town, it now survives in the shadow of its past, surrounded by desert and silence. This observational documentary follows the new generation of this town as they navigate poverty, addiction, and inherited trauma, torn between staying and leaving.
